Taylor Swift has come to the rescue of one of her fans after she was left in financial difficulty and couldn’t afford to pay her tuition bills.

20-year-old Ayesha Khurram was struggling to make ends meet and needed to find a way to raise the funds to be able to continue her next semester at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. She decided to set up a Paypal fundraiser after a friend encouraged her to look for donations. Shortly after launching it, she received a surprise donation for more than $6000 Canadian dollars. And it included a message from Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift said to Ayesha in the note that she left her, “Get your learn on girl! I love you, Taylor!” Ayesha was moved and it had touched her family who had also been going through an emotionally distressing period. Her parents had been unable to make the payments for her next semester, but when the news broke that Ayesha got help from her biggest idol, it changed everything, and gave everyone a positive outlook on the future.

The act of kindness was recognized by The Cybersmile Foundation, who honored Swift with their Cybersmiler of the Month Award – to thank her for her inspiring work in helping someone in difficulty. Every month, the charity recognizes brands, celebrities and influencers that have done good deeds to improve the lives of others. Some of the celebrities the organization have previously recognized include Drake, Rihanna, Pink and rock legend Steve Tyler.

Cybersmile, who also founded and coordinated Stop Cyberbullying Day, wrote to Taylor in their announcement saying that, “We think you are setting an amazing example for others to follow by being on the lookout for opportunities to help – you are a true Cybersmiler!”

Ayesha, who is now enrolled in her second semester can continue studying and benefitting from the course in financial management, which she is passionate about, with a bright future ahead of her.

It is the second time that Taylor Swift has received the award from The Cybersmile Foundation. Back in 2018, she was also recognized for helping a fan overcome bullying and harassment which the charity commended as it gave the young aspiring musician a positive outlook on the future without him having to worry about the negativity of others surrounding his passion.
