Lance Armstrong is an American former professional road racing cyclist, infamous for the biggest doping scandal in cycling history. He is known for his Tour de France wins and his cancer foundation. Number One: Lance Armstrong Has His Own Asteroid

In ’94 asteroid called JE9 was named 12373 Lancearmstrong in honor of the cyclist. Now we can all point to the sky and know he is out there.

Number Two: Robin Williams Would Visit Him

Armstrong was good friends with Robin Williams back in the day. Williams would actually visit Lance during Tour de France.

Number Three: The Cyclist Turned Pro Before Most Kids Get Their First Job

Armstrong let everyone know he was serious when he won the Iron Kids Triathlon at just 13 y.o. When he turned 16 he was considered a professional athlete.

Number Four: Lance Earned the Nickname Texas Bull

In one of his first races with the national team, his coach instructed him to pace himself and remain with the pack. Armstrong ignored him, cycling full force ahead. He finished in 11th place, best ever at the time for an American. It was then, he was given the nickname Texas Bull.

Number Five: His Education Didn’t Exceed High School

The athlete was busy cycling before and after school. His focus was so concentrated on cycling he traveled for international races and his High School would not excuse his absences. Determined to graduate from High School, his mother found a private school that would let him transfer. He graduated on time, in ’89. His education stopped there as he was soon asked to join the United States National Team.

Number Six: Armstrong Lied About His Age

Lance tried to enter as many triathlons as he could. This streak started at age 15. However the cyclist was still too young to participate. He often lied about his age in order to qualify.

Number Seven: He Dated One of Olsen Twins

After his divorce he had a streak of partying and dating. Among his dating partners where Sheryl Crow, Kate Hudson and Ashley Olsen, whom at the time was 15 years younger than him.

Number Eight: He Bros Out With Matthew McConaughey

If there is one actor you see next to Lance Armstrong in most media photos, it is his friend Matthew McConaughey. Both men from Texas, are known for their longtime bromance. In ’13, Matthew McConaughey revealed he was upset at Armstrong for his scandal at first, but then understood his need to come clean to the public and start a new chapter in his life.

Number Nine: His Friend Testified Against Him

His former friend, cyclist Frankie Andreu testified against Lance Armstrong out of retaliation. Apparently Armstrong called Frankie’s wife fat, so Andreu couple testified against him in ’96, telling doctors he doped with growth hormone and steroids.

Number Ten: Armstrong and George Bush Are Friends

Lance Armstrong and former President George W. Bush were publicly announced as friends. The cyclist stated to the media, in so many words; Bush is a personal friend and we all have the right to disagree with our friends.

Number Eleven: Armstrong Was Laughed at in His First Professional Race

He entered his first professional European race, called the San Sebastian Classic. It was one day and held in Spain. It was a rainy day and he finished last, 27 minutes behind the winner. The crowd laughed at his expense.

Number Twelve: The Athlete Wants to Keep Apologizing

Armstrong told Oprah and many of his fans worldwide he will spend the rest of his life apologizing. The cyclist also said he wants to earn back the trust of the public.
