Dalai Lama is a title given by the Tibetan people for the foremost spiritual leader of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. This is one of the most influential people who has inspired millions with his words. Here, MusicSnake Magazine put together a list of top 10 rare facts you probably didn’t know about the Buddhist leader.

Number One: Dalai Lama Admits to Being Tempted

In an interview, he spoke a little bit about his celibate life. Dalai Lama was asked if he was ever tempted in the past, and he said, “Oh, yes, this is very nice. But then thinking – thinking it’s a real job, then feel, too much problem…” Something about this is quite amusing and true.

Number Two: His Holiness Interested in Science

It isn’t the norm for spiritual leaders to be vocal about their positive thoughts towards science, but this is yet another way how Dalai Lama is different. This man is intrigued by science and believes that the truth of both science and Buddhism should match.

Number Three: He Is Scared of Sharks

The Leader has revealed that he has a huge fear of sharks. In fact, being eaten by one is his greatest fear.

Number Four: The Dalai Lama Was Discovered

When he was only two years old, he was found by monks, who, after they saw his physical characteristics, believed he would be just the person to be the next Dalai Lama. Impressive!

Number Five: He Is Extremely Giving

While this may be something someone would expect, it is still nice to see. In ’09, The Dalai Lama Foundation was formed in order to support the lives of the Tibetans.

Number Six: The Man Would Have Become Something Else

Despite being on of the most respected people in the world, the Dalai Lama did not always want to be a monk. Repeatedly, he is said that if this lifestyle had not found him, he would have decided to go into engineering.

Number Seven: The Dalai Lama Has Unique Hobbies

He is not just an ordinary spiritual leader. On his free time, His Holiness enjoys to garden, meditate, and repair watches.

Number Eight: He Is Hilarious

Many people may not think of a religious leader as someone who is known to be funny, per say. The Dalai Lama, however, is different yet again. Once, during a program, the man put a wet cloth on his head and told those around him, “Special hat”.

He also has been seen dancing on certain occasions. When the Dalai Lama was at the Tulane University graduation in ’13, he got into the music and began to dance with a parasol.

Number Nine: His Holiness Had Jaundice For This Reason

He thinks very highly of vegetarianism, and encourages people to be so whenever he can. However, when he was vegetarian, he mostly consumed milk and nuts, and strangely enough, this gave him jaundice. Some think that his geological location may have been a contributing factor, because this is a rare case.

Number Ten: He Is The First To Admit He Gets Angry

Just because the man is a religious figure doesn’t mean he is purpose, which is something he admits: “You never stop getting angry about small things. In my case, it’s when my staff do something carelessly, then my voice goes high. But after a few minutes, it passes.” Knowing is certainly half the battle.
